Back in the 2000s there was one word that was synonymous with business phones: “Blackberry”. Founded in 1999 by RIM Blackberry became the world leader in producing high end phones for the business user. Blackberrys are famed for their inclusion of full qwerty keyboards that allow for the fast typing of formal messages, e-mails and documents that would not be feasible on a normal numpad keyboard that were popular on earlier mobile devices.

The flagship best seller for Blackberry was their Blackberry Pearl line which featured a snappy UI (User Interface) that could be controlled by a scrollable ball above the keyboard. This allowed for accurate a fast browsing of the internet by business users. Paired with the keyboard, it boosted productivity far over the competition. For a period, Blackberry was unrivalled in the market, especially after the release of their BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) software. This was one of the first instant messaging services around, before WhatsApp came to dominate the space. At its peak in 2013 there were 83 million Blackberry subscribers. However due to the rise of the smartphone as a business utensil and competition doing what Blackberry did, but better, Blackberry’s market share began to dwindle. This almost bankrupted its parent company RIM.

Recently, Blackberry has made a comeback, it has refocused on creating cybersecure phones that are once again excellent for business users. After the WannaCry attack in 2017, Blackberry’s stock became vastly more techheads realised how important a secure smartphone is.

At Zapper, we want a taste of the good old days of business phones and the good new days of hyper secure smartphones. So, sell your Blackberry to us today and get free postage and some fast cash!
