Why Sell Your Old Tablet?

There are many reasons for selling old tablets. Do you want to declutter your home and clear out some of those overflowing drawers? Perhaps you’re moving home and think it’s time to get rid of your old stuff. Or maybe you want a little extra cash in your wallet this month! All of these are great reasons to sell your old tablets that you no longer use or are broken.

Tablet technology is constantly evolving and brands such as Apple and Samsung are constantly bringing out new models with updated features. Selling your old tablet can provide you with the funds to put towards a newer model!

Where to Sell Your Old Tablet

There are various places in which you can sell old tablets. These include to your family and friends (although you may be inclined to charge them ‘mates rates’), on secondhand marketplaces like eBay, Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree, or on legitimate trade-in platforms.

The beauty of selling old tablets on trade-in platforms like Zapper is that it doesn’t matter the condition of your tablet. It can have a smashed screen, a faulty button, software issues or not work at all and they will still accept it, unlike selling directly to another person who is unlikely to want a broken tablet.

Best Practises for Selling Old Tablets

When you’ve decided where you want to sell your old tablet, there are a few steps and best practices to follow before selling old tablets.

Back-Up Your Data

First up, you’ll want to back up your data that’s currently on the tablet. This will include any contacts, settings, account details, photos and more. If you don’t back up your data you may risk losing this information which can be frustrating, especially when you are setting up a new tablet. Your tablet manufacturer will be able to advise on how to back up your data properly and securely. However, it usually involved plugging it into a laptop or external storage device or accessing the cloud as well as instructing the backup via settings.

Disassociate Any Linked Accounts

Disassociating the tablet from any linked accounts is also important to ensure no other person or new owner can access your accounts or online services such as social media accounts, email, banking or shopping.

On Apple tablets, ensure you have dissociated your device from your iCloud account too.

Check Access to Other Devices

Before you completely erase all information on the old tablet, make sure you can still access and manage things like smart devices around your home, such as lights and speakers. Once you erase the data you may not have access again so ensuring you can still access this either on your phone or another tablet is essential.

This is also the same with any verification and authentication apps. Check that these work on another device before erasing the data on the old tablet.

Securely Erase Information

You don’t want your personal information, photos or other information getting into the wrong hands! That’s why it’s important to securely erase your personal information from any old tablets before selling them and after you’ve backed up your data. You can do this by doing a factory reset and returning the tablet to its original state.

Determine the Value

Finding out how much you’ll get for your old tablet is also a great idea before selling so that you know what to expect. The price you’ll receive will be relative to the make and model as well as its condition. Newer models that are in good condition will naturally fetch more compared to older models, especially those that are not looking their best.

Why Sell Your Old Tablet with Zapper?

Selling your old tablets with the trade-in platform Zapper is a great way to declutter your home, make quick cash and help the environment! We offer competitive prices for all types and models of tablets such as Apple iPad Pro, iPad Mini and iPad 4, as well as Samsung models amongst others.

When we buy your old tablets from you we will restore and resell them whenever we can. We may also use some of its parts to help with the refurbishment of another. If we are not able to do any of these, we will responsibly recycle your old tablet for you. Proper and responsible recycling of electrical waste is really important. Currently, only 17% of electronic waste is recycled around the world, with approximately 350 million tonnes of unrecycled e-waste sitting on our planet. Why is this a problem? Well, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) makes up 70% of all toxic waste

What Types of Tablets Can Be Sold?

Any type of tablet can be sold, especially on a trade-in platform like Zapper. Newer models are likely to be sold at a higher price as they will have a higher demand in the second-hand market. Older tablet models and those that are broken or damaged will fetch a bit less but are likely to still make you a bit of cash.

How Much is my Old Tablet Worth?

As mentioned, how much your old tablet is worth will depend on the make, model and condition. The best way to know how much your old tablets are worth is using a free valuation tool, like this one. Simply enter the details of the tablet you want to sell and the Zapper tool will give you an instant valuation for the device. To give you time to think about the offer, we’ll hold the quote for two weeks!

If you want to go ahead, simply accept the quote and follow our simple instructions on how to package up and send up your device for free! Once we receive it, we’ll transfer you your cash – it’s as easy as that.
