HOW YOUR ITEMS ARE RECYCLED
It’s really important to us that we’re a genuinely ethical business, contributing to the ‘circular economy’; trying to find new homes for old product, and making sure that our environmental footprint is positive whilst we do that. For example, we operate a ‘zero to landfill’ policy – which means that, where we cant find a new home for a particular product, we are committed to ensuring that it is handled and disposed of responsibly.
In the second-hand market, there are a large number of books, CDs and DVDs that people want to sell that sadly, in fact, have little or no resale value in the online markets in which we operate. After paying incoming postage and processing costs, we’re just not able to sell them on at a profit. It might be that we have too many of that particular title at the moment, or just that it’s a title that we know doesn’t have a market value.
That doesn’t mean we won’t take them though! We have made a decision on principle to take whatever the customer wants to dispose of – making a token offer to our customers even for those books, CDs or DVDs that we know we won’t be able to sell and will have to responsibly recycle. And we’re very happy to do this because whilst it does mean additional costs for us as a business, it also means that you have a one-stop single, ethical route for disposing of all those products that you no longer need.
If you have any questions about our recycling practices, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
