Selling Phones & Electronics

Zapper is a retailer, we sell try to resell the items we buy from you and make a small profit. Zapper cannot accept all electronic devices regardless of their age and condition, as many have no resale value. We apologise if we can’t take your item, but if we don’t believe we can resell it economically we can’t buy it from you.
Find your device by using the dropdown boxes on the left of the “My List” page.

All kinds, we accept them in all conditions – even if they are broken, but you must be careful in assessing and declaring the condition of a device to avoid any problems later. Please read our condition questions carefully before answering, if you are unsure please do not hesitate to contact us before sending in your device.

When you find and select the device you want to sell, you will be taken to a page with a set of simple questions to answer so we can give you an accurate offer for your device. There is detailed information available for each question that will help you assess the condition of the device. You should make an honest assessment. All devices are screened by quality control experts on receipt and getting the condition right up front saves all sorts of problems later and guarantees you get paid what we offer.
We cannot accept Apple IOS devices that remain tethered to an iCloud account. Before you send us the device you must unlock the device and remove it from iCloud. See www.apple.com/uk/icloud.

All phones are checked against the CheckMEND service. This is a crime prevention database, and lets us know if the phone has either been blocked, or worse, is a stolen phone. Stolen phones are made available to the authorities for investigation and potential return to the rightful owner. They will not be returned to you under any circumstance and you will not be paid for them. Don’t send stolen or blocked phones.

We buy thousands of different models of phones including many which are well beyond their ‘sell by’ date! Since the onward resale value of these phones is often for less than £1 each you can see why offers are sometimes a little on the low side.
For mobile phones, we just need the battery and the device itself. For laptops, you should send us the power supplies and any charging cables.
Definitely take it out. We do not take any responsibility for SIM cards, and any charges that may be due on them. Any SIM cards sent to Zapper will be destroyed for your own protection. Zapper will not return a SIM card to you any under circumstances.
As with SIM cards, just don’t send them. Take them out before you send the devices to Zapper. Zapper take no responsibility for any removable data devices on you device. Any removable data device sent with a device to Zapper will be destroyed for your own protection. Zapper will not return a memory card or other memory device to you under any circumstances.

Once you have completed your online sales order, we will post you a Zapper Sales Pack within 24hrs. The pack will contain free postage bag, packing and posting instructions.

We will also email you a free postage label once you have completed your online order. If you don’t want to wait until the Zapper Sales Pack arrives, you can send your device in any box or jiffy bag (depending on the size) to protect it in transit. Please make sure you package the device carefully to ensure it is not damaged before we received it.

Please post at your nearest post office and obtain a proof of posting receipt. The receipt will include a 13-character reference which can be used to track your parcel on www.royalmail.com.

You are right to be concerned about the security of your data. Data security is a big problem in today’s increasingly electronic world.

If you are worried you should delete all the data. These instructions may help you with any phones http://www.wikihow.com/Delete-Cell-Phone-Memory

For laptops here is a useful resource (http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-components/3379258/how-securely-erase-your-hard-drive/ )

However if you don’t wish to do this or are not confident about doing so Zapper will guarantee that any and all devices (PDA devices, Smart phones, old laptops, computers and IT equipment) sent to Zapper are securely data-wiped and the data on the device destroyed beyond any chance of recovery.

The only way to permanently destroy data, without physically destroying a computer hard disk, is by overwriting the existing data across the entire drive and resetting the file size to zero.

Zapper’s customers benefit from the data erasure solutions provided by http://www.blancco.com/

Blancco supports the widest range of international overwriting standards, including:

  • BSI (German overwrite standard by Federal Office for Information Security/ Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik)
  • HMG Infosec Standard No. 5 (lower) [Certified versions: 4.10 HMG, 4.8 HMG and 3.7r1]
  • HMG Infosec Standard No. 5 (higher) [Certified versions: 4.10 HMG, 4.8 HMG and 3.7r1]
  • US Department of Defense Sanitizing (DOD 5220.22-M, DOD 5220.22-M ECE)
  • NIST 800-88/ATA secure erase
  • Extended NIST 800-88
  • The technology used to ensure complete data eradication of hard drives and smartphones/tablets is of the very highest global standards.

When you send your equipment to Zapper you can be sure that your data will go nowhere and will be comprehensively destroyed.

Sorry Zapper cannot return items that have been sent to and accepted by Zapper.

The answer is yes if the device is received by Zapper within 28 days of the completion of the trade and that the make, model and condition of the device is as you stated when the price was offered.

We don’t like doing this but if you have made a genuine mistake and failed to state the make, model and condition of a device correctly then we have no option but to revise the offer. An iPhone 5S does not have the same resale value as an iPhone4S or a phone with 32Gb of memory the same value as the same model with 16Gb. A phone with a damaged screen and buttons that do not work is not as valuable as a phone in pristine condition. We know you want the best value for your device and we want to pay it, but we can only do this if we can accurately answer the conditions questions at the outset.

We will email you with a revised price and the reason(s) as to why we have had to revise the price. You will have 72 hours to make up your mind. You don’t have to accept a revised offer.
No problem. You are not obliged to accept the revised price. Let us know and we will return the item to you for free.

You don’t need to pay to have your phone unlocked, as most networks will do this for free.

We have included the links below for the different mobile phone operators to request your unlock code, simply click on the link for your chosen network, complete the form and your unlock code should be ready in a few days.

No problem. If we receive your phone and it’s locked to a network, we will email you and provide the links to unlock your phone. Your phone will be held in quarantine until you get the unlock code from your network provider and send us the details.

If you chose not to unlock your phone we will email you with a revised offer. You are not obliged to accept the revised price. Let us know and we will return the item to you for free .

It’s easy, just start typing your device make and model into the search area in our website and we will display your phone, for example once you start typing iPhone 6… we will display all the iPhone 6 models. Just choose your model and we will then ask you some simple questions about its condition so we can provide an accurate offer price.

Don't just take our word for it...
